Tundo targets sixth national title as Guru Nanak brings curtains down

What you need to know:

  • Carl Tundo needs just a top-10 finish in this last round of the national championship to clinch his sixth national title. He leads the series with 166 points.
  • His closest rival, Baldev Chager, is in second place with 141 points. Chager has won the Kenya National Rally Championship titles four times in addition to winning the Safari Rally three times.

The 2021 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship season comes to end this weekend with the Guru Nanak Rally to be organised by the Sikh Union Club.

The official programme for the rally will start on Saturday with the official reconnaissance of the route and scrutineering of the rally cars.

There rally will host a total of eight spectator stages with a total distance of 268 kilometres, of which 150 will be of the completive stages. The Liaison distance will be 118 kilometres.

Four competitive stages will be done twice, namely the SGR Section, Stoney Athi, Simba and Kifaru.

The Club Steward is Surinder Thatthi, while Marzio Kravos will be the Competitor Relation Officer and Scrutineering duties will be handled by Viren Goricha.

The main event will start from the Sikh Union Club where the first car should be flagged off at 7.30am. The first car at the finish car will be expected back from 3pm.

Tundo’s record includes the 2021 Africa Rally Championship title along with five wins in the Safari Rally, one in the East African Safari Classic Rally and Kenya National Rally Championship titles.
