Kadenge: I’m now doing fine my son, all is well

Legendary Kenyan footballer Joe Kadenge insists he is “Okay”, a day after receiving treatment for fatigue at the Metropolitan Hospital in Nairobi.

The former international was rushed to hospital moments after collapsing at Camp Toyoyo grounds. He had earlier on complained of dizziness while watching a National Super League game between Nzoia Sugar and KCB FC. “I am now fine my son,” the former Harambee Stars coach told Daily Nation Sport on phone Thursday.
He added: “I don’t know what happened, or didn’t even feel anything. I just woke up and found myself in hospital. The doctors have now advised me to rest.” The 82-year-old also dismissed reports on social media indicating that he had been “complaining of hunger” at about the time he collapsed.

Kadenge has been in and out of hospital over the past year, and is currently receiving treatment for diabetes and failing eye sight.

The former striker is considered by many as the most talented Kenyan football ever.

In the autobiography “Joe Kadenge - the life of a football legend”, BBC journalist John Nene, who watched Kadenge play in the 70s, describes him as an

“extraordinary player, a genius, an entertainer who weaved past defenders with relative ease, and a very fast player thanks to his sprinting talents realised during his time at Musingu High School”.
