Equity stun holders Bandari to storm Betway Cup semis

Football Kenya Federation Division One side Equity FC produced a stunning performance to edge out holders Bandari 1-0 in the Betway Cup quarterfinals at Ruaraka grounds on Wednesday.
Kajumba Sande struck the solitary goal on 58 minutes to send Equity into their first ever semi-finals of the domestic Cup.
Coached by former Kenyan international John Baraza, Equity will now face either Tusker or record winners of the cup AFC Leopards in the semi-finals this weekend.

Tusker and Leopards battle for a place in the last four from 3.30pm EAT at Ruaraka grounds. The other quarter finals contests are set for Thursday with Kariobangi Sharks playing league champions Gor Mahia at Utalii from 3pm while Bidco United and Nairobi City Stars square it off in the other last eight encounter.
At Ruaraka in the lunch-time kick-off, Bandari were fast off the blocks, with Kenyan international winger Abdallah Hassan missing two clear cut chances in the opening 10 minutes.
First, it was his bullet header that flew inches wide from Amai Atariza's cross four minutes into the match, then his shot from the edge of the box was only good for the woodwork on eight minutes.

Equity also created their chance on 20 minutes, Evans Ochieng and Sande combining well to pick out Bryson Wangai but his effort from about 12 yards was saved by Bandari custodian Justin Ndikumana.
Bandari midfielder William Wadri almost gave his side the lead at the half hour mark but his powerful shot hit the post before ricocheting out for a fruitless corner.
On the other end, Bernard Odhiambo was cautioned for a foul on Wangai while Danson Chetambe missed an open chance at the stroke of half-time.

At the restart, Bandari coach Andre Casa Mbung'o made a double change, Wilberforce Lugogo
and Benjamin Mosha paving way for Zakayo Keegan and Dairus Msagha.
Equity followed suit, Baraza introducing Josephat Waititu and Godana Guyo for Derick Odhiambo and Wangai in the 52nd minute.
Then an unmarked Sande slotted into an empty net as Bandari defenders watched, after Ndikumana's attempt to force out a fierce drive over the bar failed.
Bandari then upped the tempo and raided Equity in search for an equaliser, with Msagha and Chetambe all coming close but couldn't breach Equity.
