Kenya fails to get podium position in men's 10, 000m final

Hundreds of athletics fans in Eldoret town for the second day watched as the country failed to win any medal in the men’s 10, 000 m final on Sunday in the ongoing 2012 Olympics.

The electrifying finale saw England’s Mohammed Farah struck gold, USA Rupp Galen taking silver and country’s perennial arch rival Kennenisa Tariku from Ethiopia taking bronze.

Kenya’s Bedan Muchiri came fifth in behind the Kenenisa Bekele with his counterpart Moses Masai taking the 12th position with Wilson Kiprop dropping out of the race

Thousands of athletics fanatics turned up to watch the event that was being beamed live in most of the entertainment joints in the town.

They expressed optimism that despite the gold medal proving elusive, upcoming events will be a filed for the Kenyan.

“We expect medals to come by in the upcoming events so we should keep our spirits alive and rally behind our Kenyan team. We have so far tried,” said Angela Jerotich, a reveler at one of the club.

Several clubs at the town were transmitting the spectacular event live through their satellite television with majority of the clubs recording magnificent sales due to the huge turnout.

“Revellers are turning up in huge numbers and we are recording good business.

Though most of them are dejected they still keep the faith that the Kenyan team will do we’ll in the remaining events,” said a manager at one of the entertainment spots in the town.
