Eldoret fans watch their stars in action

As Vivian Cheruiyot and Eliud Kipchoge were winning London Marathon titles thousands of kilometres away from home, Sunday, elite and upcoming athletes converged on Eldoret’s Klique Restaurant along Eldoret-Nakuru highway to cheer them to victory.

It was a good day for athletics lovers in Eldoret, given that Eldoret City Marathon was also held yesterday. Sunday’s marathon viewing sessions, dubbed ‘viewerthon’, was organised by Bank of Africa.

Athletes who attended the session were trained on investment, anti-doping and taxation.

Kipchoge’s training partner, three time World Half Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor, former Olympic champion in marathon Stephen Kiprotich, 800m Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal, former World Half Marathon bronze medalist Sally Chepyego, marathoner Laban Korir, former World and Olympic champion in 3,000 steeplechase Ezekiel Kemboi among many others attended the viewerthon.

Representatives of Isuzu EA Ltd said they were proud to be associated with Kipchoge as brand ambassador.
