National Land Commission (NLC) chairman Muhammad Swazuri has revoked more than 100 title deeds issued by the controversial Maji Moto Group Ranch in Narok South and disbanded the ranch’s management committee.

The title deeds are for disputed pieces of land that is part of the 120,607 acres of community land allegedly grabbed by members of the committee.

There has been tension following protests by members of the ranch who demanded the removal of the committee members and accused them of abusing office and allocating themselves the land.

Dr Swazuri visited and addressed members of the ranch at Maji Moto trading centre on Thursday.

NEW COMMITTEE

He called for the election of a new committee in seven days’ time.

The move came after Narok South MP Korei ole Lemein, Naroosura MCA Stephen Kudate and community members accused the current committee of illegally allocating themselves and their relatives part of the community group ranch.

The embattled group rushed to court to obtain a court order stopping NLC from revoking the titles.

But Mr Swazuri said: “Whether people rush to court to stop us from repossessing public utility land is immaterial because we shall be guided by the law.

Nobody will be allowed to continue occupying land meant for public use”.
