What you need to know:

  • After some time, smoother, less dimpled skin starts to take the place of the orange-peel appearance.

  • The slim line method is also used on body parts which require firming and toning.

If there is one beauty problem that is extremely stubborn and difficult to treat it is cellulite. This appearance of lumps and bumps under the skin of thighs and buttocks is cause for worry among many women, including the underweight.

It is caused mainly by pockets of fat accumulating in these areas. Doctors believe that the main cause is poor diet, bad blood circulation and not drinking enough fluids.

Body care therapist Nellie of the Mostelene Clinic advises those with cellulite to tackle it systematically.

She advises her clients on the correct anti-cellulite diet which includes a drastic reduction in the intake of foods containing gluten and sugar.

This combined with slim line machine therapy yields results. Machine therapy uses infrared light to heat the fat and to thin the blood to improve circulation. Once this is done, fat and muscle stimulation pads are attached to the cellulite-prone areas to dissolve and break down fatty tissue.

After some time, smoother, less dimpled skin starts to take the place of the orange-peel appearance.

The slim line method is also used on body parts which require firming and toning. The most sensitive areas that sometimes do not firm up despite gym exercise  include the upper arm biceps, abdomen, buttocks and waist.

Some of these areas remain wobbly even as the rest of the body loses excess fat.
