Two Form Four candidates who got pregnant are among five girls expelled from school in Bungoma.

The girls from Yalusi Secondary School in Webuye West are said to have been made pregnant by fellow schoolboys.

School Principal Mary Wanyama said the girls included two Form Three students and one in Form One. They were all taken for pregnancy tests by the school when it appeared they were pregnant.

“We took them to a local health facility where they were found to be pregnant,” said Ms Wanyama.

Bungoma East Sub-County Education officer Immaculate Obare said her office was investigating increased teenage pregnancies in the area.

County Woman Representative Reginalda Wanyonyi called on the school principal not to expel the pregnant girls, but allow them to continue with their studies.
