Kenya loses to Argentina, face Australia in 5fth place semi-final

Kenya Sevens will meet Australia in the semi-finals for the fifth place after it lost to Argentina 17-12 in the main Cup quarterfinals of the USA Sevens on Sunday morning at Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas.

The duel goes down at 11.50pm Sunday where New Zealand face England in the other semi-final.

Australia lost to South Africa 29-19, hosts USA downed England 17-12 while Fiji silenced New Zealand 14-10 in the other main Cup quarterfinal matches.

Fiji meet USA while South Africa are up against Argentina in the Cup semi-finals.

NO FINAL PUSH

Tries from Nelson Oyoo and William Ambaka saw Kenya equalise twice but lacked the final push with a restart error costing them the game against Argentina.
Conrad Roura pounced on the loose ball to score while Gaston Revola added the extras to give the Pumas a 7-0 lead.

Speedy Oyoo sliced through on the outside after quality display from his colleagues at the middle to score.

Eden Agero converted to level 7-7.

ARGENTINA

Argentina landed to take the score to 12-7 at the break before Billy Odhiambo went loose to find Ambaka in place to level.

An error in kick-off would cost Kenya dearly when Lautaro Bazan Velez went for the ball.

Velez swung the ball wide to Renzo Barbier who wasted time to break Kenya fans hearts with a try.

It is the fourth time Kenya is failing to go past the main Cup quarterfinals.

Kenya Sevens qualified for the main Cup quarterfinal by the skin of their teeth when bullish Andrew Amonde landed the winning try as they stunned giants Fiji 17-14 in their last Pool "A" match on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Kenya now face Pool D winners Argentina while Fiji, who still topped Pool "A" on better aggregate while Kenya had lost to France 19-14 in their opening match before beating Russia 19-12.
