Kenya Prisons win Governor's netball tourney

Kenya Prisons women emerged winners in the Governor's netball tournament held in Uasin Gishu County over the weekend.

Prisons beat Kenya Defence Forces (Ulinzi) 31-15 in the final to become the champions of the super division in the tourney organised by Kenya Netball Federation (KNF)at Kapkaren playing grounds.

The two-day event attracted 16 teams among them secondary schools, which battled out for trophies, uniforms and balls. There were nine teams for women and seven for men.

In the schools category, Kobala earned a trophy and a ball after trouncing Mukuyu 22-5 as St Peters Kapkaren finished third and Chepngoror were fourth.
 
“I commend my girls for competing well in this tournament. We will go back heads held high having learnt a lot from this championship” said Kobala head coach George Adoyo.

In the men's category, Prisons scooped the coveted trophy after topping the group with 12 points ahead of Ganec who managed 10 points. Homa Bay, Kenyatta University and Masinde Muliro followed next in that order.

In the first division category, Vihiga Executive were declared winners after beating Sophia women of Homa Bay 18-11. MMUST women were third in that category.

She was grateful to the residents for turning out in large numbers to support the teams.
