Beleaguered Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Wazito FC have sacked head coach Francis Kimanzi.

Kimanzi, who has been in charge for over a year, has been fired alongside his assistants John Kamau and Jeff Odongo as well as goalkeeper trainer Samuel Koko.

This comes just a few days after Kimanzi blasted the club over non payment of salaries and players strike.

"We can confirm that Head coach Francis Kimanzi, his assistants Jeff Odongo and John Kamau, and the goalkeepers' coach Samuel Koko have left the club. We wish them well in their future endeavors," said a statement from the club.

In an exclusive interview with Nation Sport on Tuesday, Kimanzi had blasted flamboyant club owner Ricardo Badoer for players strike due to four months salary arrears.

The club has announced youth team coach Fred Ambani will take over in interim capacity amid biting financial challenges with majority of senior players rumoured to be on their way out.

The 4-2 -defeat to bottom-placed Vihiga Bullets last Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega compounded more misery for Kimanzi.

The team lies in 16th place in the 18-team table with a paltry nine points from 13 games. They have won only two games this season.

Ambani will be making a return to the club having been sacked in November 2020 alongside his assistant Salim Babu and goalkeeper trainer Elisha Otieno.

In the same month, Kimanzi was appointed on a four-year contract joining a long list of coaches who had handled Wazito namely Stewart Hall, Stanley Okumbi, Frank Ouna, Hamisi Abdalla and Melis Medo all who left unceremoniously.
