No amount of scheming will derail Leopards

What you need to know:

  • I must at this point protest against some devious schemes by some busy bodies at KPL to derail Ingwe’s ascendancy to the summit of the table.
  • How else would one explain the belated decision by some characters at the FKF Appeals Board to nullify Ingwe’s walkover against Sony Sugar when it is so clear that our opponents failed to honour a match against us on grounds that as a corporate entity, they decide when to play matches?
  • Somebody must remind Muhoroni that some hooligans attacked Ingwe players at the former’s stadium during the first leg match, yet the peace-loving Ingwe players and fans didn’t bother to complain.

It is imperative that AFC Leopards successfully defends the GOtv Shield honours. This is because world over, the knockout tournament is just as competitive as the league.

Our noisy neighbours will readily proclaim how mediocre the GOtv Shield is. That is the trouble with short memories or lack of knowledge.

For lack of any achievement worth talking about, our noisy neighbours will latch on to every excuse to downplay Ingwe’s exploits at the Nile Basin tournament two months ago as if it was some village tournament.

They forget that K’Ogalo’s only claim to fame came via the equivalent of the GOtv Shield. Then known as the Africa Cup Winners’ Cup (Nelson Mandela Cup), our noisy neighbours won the tournament back in 1987 in a poorly officiated final.

I am not by any chance suggesting that we will not challenge for the Kenya Premier League title. We will of course. If anything, we will retain our runners-up position, at the very worst.

BUSY BODIES

I must at this point protest against some devious schemes by some busy bodies at KPL to derail Ingwe’s ascendancy to the summit of the table.

How else would one explain the belated decision by some characters at the FKF Appeals Board to nullify Ingwe’s walkover against Sony Sugar when it is so clear that our opponents failed to honour a match against us on grounds that as a corporate entity, they decide when to play matches?

How else would one explain a situation where one former referee decides to complain on behalf of Muhoroni Youth about some purported violence meted against them by hooligans before and after their match against Ingwe two weeks ago?

And why would anyone call the hooligans arrested after that match Ingwe fans? Simply because they were donning Ingwe t-shirts? Whoever unleashes violence at a football match is a goon, no two ways about it. So whoever is demanding that Ingwe must forfeit some points is day dreaming for it will never happen.

Somebody must remind Muhoroni that some hooligans attacked Ingwe players at the former’s stadium during the first leg match, yet the peace-loving Ingwe players and fans didn’t bother to complain.

The same mandarins at FKF now want Ingwe to travel to Awendo to justify some team’s contempt to rules. Take it from me, it won’t happen!
