What you need to know:

  • Mieno has previously played for KCB, Mahakama, Sofapaka, AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, and Tusker locally.
  • He has also had professional stints with Ethiopian giants St George, Tunisian side Club Africain and Tanzanian moneybags Azam SC.

Tusker FC midfielder Humphrey Mieno moved to Omani second-tier side Al-Itihad on a short-term loan deal in January this year and little has been heard of him since then.

It is hard to get any material or coverage on the Omani First Division League, as the second-tier is referred to, but Mieno says he has enjoyed his stay at the club and in the country.

"I had played eight matches before coronavirus forced the league to be halted and I really enjoyed my time. The league is very competitive by its own standards," Mieno told Nation Sport.

"The facilities are very good and especially when the playing surface is quality then the players are able to show their quality and potential. I am happy to have made the move to Oman," he added.

Mieno joined the team on a  three-month loan deal that was set to expire in March and it is unclear if he will return to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side.

"The league (Omani First Division League) was set to resume in September, but with restrictions due to Covid-19, we are not sure what will happen next. I am still in Oman keeping safe and waiting to see what happens next," he added.

Mieno has previously played for KCB, Mahakama, Sofapaka, AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, and Tusker locally.

He has also had professional stints with Ethiopian giants St George, Tunisian side Club Africain and Tanzanian moneybags Azam SC.
