Bandari SC and KCB settled for a barren draw in a dull Football Kenya Federation Premier League match at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Thursday.

The game started at a cracking pace with the visitors trying to get an early goal which almost yielded in the fourth minute.

They were awarded a free-kick and Derrick Otanga sent a powerful shot which hit the crossbar before Bandari's backline cleared the danger.

In the 28th minute, KCB had a lucky escape when William Wadri combined well with Umara Kasumbu who unleashed a powerful drive which goalkeeper Gabriel Andika punched.

Bandari came back strongly in the second half. Benjamin Mosha received a fine pass from Wadri and with Andika at his mercy, the winger shot wide on 49 minutes.

The home team missed another sitter in the 54th minute when Andika made a brilliant save from Abdalla Hassan's free-kick before they cleared their lines from the ensuing melee.

Bandari coach Andre Cassa Mbungo said the players were rusty because of the month-long stoppage of the league occasioned by the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.

“We’re satisfied with the result and looking forward of doing better in our next game against Gor,” said Mbungo.

He said they are working on ways of winning both their next matches against Gor on Sunday away and Kariobangi Sharks at home next week.

“Winning against these two tough teams will give us morale of doing better in all our remaining outings,” added Mbungo.

KCB coach Zedekiah Otieno said he was happy with the result which he commended his players for making sure they did not return home empty handed.

“To play against Bandari at home and snatch a point is an achievement,” he said.

KCB face Ulinzi Stars in Nairobi on Sunday.
