Bandari coach Andre Cassa Mbungo believes his side can pick from where they left from with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League set to resume.

Speaking to Nation Sport, Mbungo said he had good plans for Bandari to do well in the league, but was slowed down by the latest suspension of sports activities in the country announced by Presient Uhuru Kenyatta on March 26.

"Before the matches were stopped, I was busy making plans to make Bandari continue to do well in the league and the team had started to show tip-top form that enabled us to emerge the best team in February," said Mbungo.

Although he has been urging his players to train individually, Mbungo said he can only gauge their fitness levels when they meet and train together. “Since we are a parastatal-sponsored team, it's our responsibility to adhere to the rules of self-defence to curb the spread of the virus,” said Mbungo.

Mbungo is happy that his charges are slowly getting back to shape after the break as he works on restoring lost glory at the club. “I don’t want to promise that we’ll win the league because my players did not train for a period of more than a month,” he said.

Mbungo said they are eagerly awaiting the start of group training and confirmed that Burundian goalkeeper Justin Ndikumana is back in the country.

"Ndikumana is here in Mombasa and is ready to start training with goalkeepers coach Wilson Obungu,” he said.

Bandari, ranked fifth with 27 points from 16 matches, resume league action with a tie against Bidco United on Saturday at Mbaraki.
