Enock Agwanda struck twice as high-riding Sony Sugar made it five wins in as many games with a comfortable 2-0 victory over spluttering Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Premier League at Camp Toyoyo grounds on Sunday.

Victory saw the sugar millers leapfrog Sharks into eighth place on the table with 36 points, same as seventh-placed Tusker - who host Zoo Kericho at Ruaraka later on Sunday. The loss extended Sharks's winless run to five matches, forcing a section of the club's faithful to confront coach William Muluya after the game.

The fans later vented their anger on club patron and FKF president Nick Mwendwa, who was at the venue.

Agwanda opened the scoring on 32 minutes from the spot after John Kuol fouled Michael Apudo inside the box. The former Sofapaka striker then forced Gad Matthew into a brilliant save four minutes after the break. Stephen Ouma latched onto the rebound with his attempt going through Matthew's hands, crossed the goal-line before the goalkeeper retrieved it only for the referee to wave play on to the chagrin of a sizeable crowd at the venue.

Agwanda had his brace on 58 minutes after looping the ball over Gad from a tight angle.

"It's tough for us, the confidence is low but it's not the end, we still have matches to come we shall work our socks off to get positive results," a dejected Muluya said.

Sony coach Patrick Odhiambo said they are aiming for a better finish after a slow start to the season.

Sony, who beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 last weekend, would've scored more but were denied by the crossbar thrice. Sharks had all their attempts thwarted by an outstanding Kevin Omondi in Sony goal.

Sharks, who have now lost nine games this term, missed three of their key players in injured duo Geoffrey Shiveka and midfielder Patillah Omoto while combative midfielder Sven Yidah is suspended for accumulation of five yellow cards.
