Century Fox (Richard Kibet), whistled lickety-split from the Uhuru Cup gates, allowing no-one to overtake until he had accomplished another pursuit.

Century Fox had a tougher errand than usual, as Frankie and Class Action were niggling away closely in Shadowland. Inca Ruler never augmented what he is capable of, staying put behind.

Sympathies to Patsy and John Sercombe, who were both in a precarious position with leg ailments, but can still be proud of another quartet of winners - daughter, Lesley, pronounced three of them.

Best Ngong afternoon encounter was the Brigade of Guards Trophy. Coralline set a steady pace for most of the 2,800m trek, until worn out. All over Again sat pretty in a decent spot, but could not find an opening approaching the wire.

Meanwhile, Quasar had been loitering at the back with Steel Drum, conserving energy. Karowe and Anjoli then entered the picture, by which time Quasar had been mobilized. At least the verdict gave Judges something to think about. Well done Bindya Devani, whose tiny strings keep delivering.

There was no official traditional Christmas gathering after closure, but various owners, rightly so, made merry in their own way.

For those wondering where Henry Muya has disappeared to, he actually broke his finger working on the gallops. A popular comeback is expected next year.
