Lang'ata's Fancy Chepkorir and Emmanuel Koisetia from Starehe destroyed their respective fields to win their Under-18 girls and boys races during the Athletics Kenya Nairobi Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Kenya Prisons Service ground, Nairobi West.

Chepkorir, who finished fourth last year, was sublime in her execution this time around to win the girls' 5km race in 16 minutes and 10.0 seconds.

Chepkorir, a Class Seven pupil at Katet Primary School, Londiani, Kericho virtually led from start to finish, beating team mate Dorcas Chepkemoi to second place in 16:28.6 as another Lang'ata athlete Sharon Chepkemei came third in 16:35.4.

"It was a great race and I am happy to have won this time around. I went back to train hard, polishing on my speed and endurance. I am glad it worked," said Chepkorir, who is based at Lemotit Athletics Training Club in Londiani.

Chepkorir now hopes to win the category at National Cross Country Championships due January 22 at Lobo Village, Eldoret. 

Koisetia clocked 17:19.9 to win boys' 6km, beating Makadara's William Kumpe to second place in 17:24.1. Lang'ata's Amos Kipsang claimed the last podium place in 17:42.8.
