Kamworor retains World Half Marathon title

- Geoffrey Kamworor weathered a fall at the start and heavy downpour towards the end to retain his World Half Marathon title in a time of 59 minutes and 10 seconds in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday.
- Kamworor, who becomes the third man in history to retain the world title after Kenya’s Paul Tergat and Zersenay Tadese from Eritrea edged out compatriot Bedan Karoki to second place in a replica of the 2015 World Cross Country Championships and 2016 National Cross Country.
- Karoki clocked 59:36 for silver as the Kenyans took swift revenge of Briton Mo Farah, who settled for bronze in 59:59.

Kamworor missed the championship record he set two years ago in Copenhagen, Denmark by a second.
Kamworor, who becomes the third man in history to retain the world title after Kenya’s Paul Tergat and Zersenay Tadese from Eritrea, edged out compatriot Bedan Karoki to second place in a replica of the 2015 World Cross Country Championships and 2016 National Cross Country.

Kamworor, who is also the World 10,000m silver medallist, erased the championships record time of 59:35 set by Tadese in 2009.
Another Kenyan Simon Cheprot clocked 1:00:12 for sixth while Edwin Kiptoo 1:00:21 for ninth as Kenya reclaimed the team title.
