Kisumu County Commander Nelson Njiiri has been promoted and transferred to the Kenya Airports Authority as a security manager.

The position was formerly held by the now government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe.

Mr Njiiri was transferred barely a week after a man was shot dead during anti-IEBC protests in Kisumu.

Police, however, immediately denied shooting the man and insisted that he had fallen down and suffered head injuries on May 23.

However, a post-mortem report showed that Fredrick Otieno died of gunshot wounds.

According to the report, one bullet entered Mr Otieno's body through the upper left arm, ripped through his thorax, tore vital blood vessels, collapsed his lung and stopped in his upper right arm.
