Three charged over Nakumatt manager murder

A police officer and a Nakumatt employee are among three suspects who were on Friday charged over the killing of a manager at the leading regional retail supermarket.
The police officer, Mr Ezekiel Momanyi Onsongo was charged alongside Mr Philip Manyura Maroko, an accounts manager at Nakumatt and Mr Dennison Mose Maroko, a bodaboda operator.
They were charged with killing Nakumatt’s Internal Audit Manager Mr James Karanja Maina on May 7.
It is said that Mr Maina had unearthed a multi-million shillings scandal involving senior employees at the supermarket.
Mr Maroko's lawyer requested that his client be released on bond but the Judge directed the application be made next Wednesday.
The three were first arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on June 25 after their arrest on June 23.
