  • His statement of June 13, 2010, said: “When I saw Jackline removing her top and sweater, my satanic spirit entered my body and started controlling me. I told her to lie on her bed. I grabbed her neck, held her and sucked her blood through the artery in her neck. I emptied her blood and took her to the bathroom.”

Self-confessed serial killer Philip Onyancha confessed he was seized by spirits when he met women he is accused of killing and drinking their blood.

According to an excerpt of confessions recorded by police, Mr Onyancha admitted that his “satanic spirits” led him to commit the beastly acts.

Another confession allegedly made on June 12 showed that the spirits seized him when he made eye contact with the victim and controlled their communication.

“I had direct eye contact with her. I then felt a spirit arising inside me urging me to drink human blood. After the eye contact, I could control the way she responded to me in a way she could not do in a normal state of mind,” said the statement.

Mr Onyancha now says that he was not in his right senses when he admitted all these.

His lawyer, senior counsel Paul Muite, said that the only documents in their possession are police excerpts of confession made by Mr Onyancha.

“We need to establish how the confession was obtained,” said Mr Muite.

Mr Onyancha is charged with the murder of Catherine Chelangat and Jackline Chepng’etich Misoi in Nairobi. He and Douglas Obiero Makori and Tobias Nyabuhanga Arad allegedly murdered nine-year-old Anthony Njirwa at Ngando village in Dagoretti in April 2010.

The hearing continues.
