Nairobi woman representative Rachel Shebesh on Tuesday withdrew her assault charges against governor Evans Kidero.

She told journalists at the Parliament Police Station: “The withdrawal and forgiving of Kidero that I did in church was unofficial. I come here to drop the charges in the process recognised by law.”

This followed a signed truce before their lawyers, Mr Tom Ojienda and Mr Cecil Miller, for Dr Kidero and Ms Shebesh, respectively.

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko will now drop the criminal charges he pressed against them.

Last week, Dr Kidero, who had accused Ms Shebesh of creating a disturbance in a case he filed at the Central Police Station, withdrew the charges.

On September 6, 2013 Dr Kidero claimed Ms Shebesh had assaulted him, while she claimed Dr Kidero slapped her. Ms Shebesh had led striking county workers to storm the Nairobi governor’s office.
