David Ole Nkedianye, the first governor of Kajiado County, has been appointed by the chairperson of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute.

In a gazette notice dated June 2, President William Ruto said Mr Nkedianye's appointment took effect on May 31 and will last for three years.

Mr Nkedianye contested the Kajiado governorship in the 2022 general election but failed to unseat Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who was defending his seat on an ODM ticket.

The ex-governor contested the last election on the Jubilee Party ticket and came third with 75,337 votes behind Mr Lenku and Katoo ole Metito of UDA.

Dr Ruto also appointed former Gilgil MP Samuel Mathenge Nderitu as chairman of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, and Letulal ole Masikonde and Daniel Tuitoek as members of the same agency.

The three agency appointees will serve until 8 April 2024, as the appointments of Boniface Kamanga Muhia, Julius Kamau Muthanwa and Cynthia Jerotich Kipchillat have been revoked.

Sammy Latema and David Kipchirchir Kimeto have also been appointed members of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency until August 4, 2025.

The appointments of Irene Chebet Lorot and Reuben Kibet to the same agency were revoked.
