The Embu County Assembly has vowed to start afresh the process of impeaching reinstated Governor Martin Nyaga Wambora in what appears to be another round of the unending duel between it and the Executive.

County Assembly Speaker Kariuki Mate said he had been consulted by over 20 Members of the County Assembly, who have declared they would soon file fresh allegations seeking to oust Mr Wambora, who was reinstated by a three-judge bench sitting in Kerugoya.

Mr Mate said he was studying the court ruling before certifying the notice, expected to be tabled next Tuesday.

He said the Assembly, which is on recess, would reconvene to discuss the matter.

Mr Mate said they respected the court decision, but would pursue the allegations of corruption and abuse of office, which led to his impeachment.

He asked why he was cited for contempt of court, when he was only discharging his constitutional duties. Mr Mate said he would move to the Supreme Court to seek an interpretation.

Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swaleh, who moved the initial motion, said the new process of impeachment would take into account the faults identified by the court.

Meanwhile, Mr Wambora made a triumphant entry into Embu Town from Kerugoya and proceeded to the County Government Office, amid song and dance by his supporters.

He addressed the supporters and vowed to unite all Embu county residents irrespective of their backgrounds.
