"The estimated amount of cash contained in the vehicle is Sh6.5 million, part of this has been recovered, G4S staff and Administration Police are assisting with investigations," said G4S in a statement to media houses. This is contrary to media reports which had put the value at Sh40 million.

The Ugenya OCPD Josphat Muturi Ndung'u told Nation that the money belonging to KCB was robbed after a police chase car accompanying the G4S car broke down at Ugunja.

The G4S vehicle proceeded on and was later attacked by another vehicle with 5 occupants at Rang'ala area resulting into shoot-out that left one G4S personnel injured.

Mr Ndung'u could not immediately tell the value of money lost in the attack but said only one out of the three boxes carrying the cash was left behind.

He said they were waiting for the branch manager to arrive and ascertain the value of money lost.
