NAMED BY INTERPOL

“Feisal had earlier been charged before a Mombasa court for dealing in ivory and possession of 314 pieces of elephant tusks weighing 2152.45 kilograms without licence,” he said on the post.

He is among nine people named in October by Interpol in its first international appeal for help to arrest fugitives sought for committing environmental crimes.

The red notice on Interpol’s website states that the 46-year-old is wanted for “dealing in wildlife trophies contrary to Section 84 (1) as read with Section 92 of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act No. of 2014 laws of Kenya”.

The suspect escaped arrest in June during a police raid at a vehicle warehouse where the ivory was recovered. Since then, the authorities suspected him to be hiding in Tanzania. During the raid, police seized 2,152 kilogrammes of ivory.
