Shabaab cut off convict’s hand

Somalia’s Al-Shabaab militants amputated the right hand of a man convicted for theft.Osman Manurey Mohamed, a resident of Don-Burale Village in Lower Shabelle region, was accused of breaking into a shop and stealing an estimated Sh24,000.

The amputation took place at a square in Don-Burale village, about 124 kilometres southwest of Mogadishu in the presence of villagers summoned to witness the event.

On Sunday, Al-Shabaab sentenced a man named Abukar Haji Omar, 50, to death and executed him on the outskirts of Qoryoley town.

Omar was accused of claiming to possess supernatural powers over the past five years. He was executed by a firing squad.
