Police in Molo are investigating an incident where the decomposing body of a woman was found inside a man's house in Muthaiga village on Tuesday afternoon.

Area Chief Hassan Kariuki said he was called by residents informing him that there were some dogs that were seen with human parts which was later confirmed to be the woman's hands.

Speaking to Nation.Africa by phone, the administrator said he rushed to the scene accompanied by police officers from Molo and after confirming the incident, they moved the parts to Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary.

"After an hour, the head and the torso were found inside a man's house barely a few metres from where the hands were found.

"We, together with Directorate of Criminal Investigation Officers, spotted the head dipped inside a container while the torso was hidden under the bed," said Mr Kariuki.

Cut into pieces

Molo Sub-County Police Commander Mwenda Mutamia said the body had been cut into pieces and wrapped with a blanket.

"We had earlier not received any report of a missing person but we have launched investigations to arrest the suspect who went missing after the heinous act," said Mutamia, adding that no murder weapon was found at the scene of incident but some blood was spotted inside the house.

During a phone interview, the police boss said the suspect, a university student, was yet to be arrested.

He was last seen on Tuesday morning at his grandparents' home.
