The Kenya Railways has introduced additional trains on the Nairobi to Athi River route.

The second train in the morning from Athi River station is scheduled to take off at 9.20am and to Athi River station from the city centre in the evening will be leaving at 7.30 pm.

The move is expected to ease traffic on Mombasa Road.

Traffic disruptions have become the order of the day thanks to the ongoing construction of the Sh62 billion double-decker Nairobi Expressway.

In the recent past, the contractor and the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) have found themselves on the receiving end of criticism for failing to implement effective traffic management plans.
