No words can describe Bakhita Carren Diana’s excitement after she scored an A in the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination released on Tuesday.

The ever-smiling former Alliance Girls High School student who scored a mean grade of 83 points told the Nation that she was still trying to come to terms with the news.

“It’s all because of God, support from my teachers, friends and my parents who did everything within their reach to ensure I emerged successful,” she told the Nation in Meru town.

Diana, who posted an A in Geography, Chemistry, and Mathematics wants to pursue a career in civil engineering.

She is currently undertaking an ICDL course at the Kenya Methodist University in Meru.

Diana said a positive attitude in life played a critical role in her exemplary performance.

Kaaga Boys High School scored a mean score of 8.0. This is an increase from the 2013 results which stood at 7.71.

The top student at Kaaga Boys managed to get A- (minus). Fourteen other students have scored the same grade.

IMPRESSIVE RESULTS

“We are quite impressed with the results,” said the school’s principal Lewis Mwirigi.

Meanwhile, the top girl in Embu wants to be a lawyer.

Magdalene Wangari, who sat her exams at Kyeni Girls High School scored an A of 83 points and was elated on getting the results.

Speaking to the Nation by phone, the 18-year-old girl from Blue Valley Estate, Embu Municipality said she expected to perform well since she had worked hard.

“In future I want to enable oppressed people seek justice,” said an elated Wangari, whose parents are both businesspeople.

She said hard work, being focused, faith, determination coupled with obeying his teacher’s counsel enabled him to realise the grade.

“I was overjoyed to learn I had posted good results. I received the results through a text message at around 11.30pm and shared the good news with my family,” said Magdalene.

Her father Festus Nyaga said the girl had been performing well consistently and had scored 404 marks in primary school.

Kyeni Girls was among the top girls’ schools in the county with a mean score of 8.9 while Moi Mbiruri High School which also produced the top student emerged top in the county.
