Two students die, five injured in Isiolo-Moyale highway accident

Two students died and five others sustained injuries in a road accident in Elbaloriara on the Isiolo-Moyale highway on Tuesday.
The driver of the vehicle, a Toyota Probox, which was carrying six students from Loglogo Secondary School and three other occupants, is said to have lost control and hit a road rail, forcing the vehicle to overturn.
“A student died on the spot while the other succumbed while undergoing treatment at Marsabit Referral Hospital,” Marsabit Central police boss Johnson Wachira said.
He said the police are looking for the driver who fled the scene after the accident.
Mr Wachira warned motorists against speeding and overloading. He also urged them to be cautious while driving in the areas where there are strong crosswinds.
He added that police have initiated a crackdown on motorists who flout the Covid-19 prevention protocols.
