Officials from Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia are meeting in Mandera Town to deliberate on the security situation along the borders of the three countries.

The meeting comes amid fresh Al-Shabaab attacks in Mandera in the past one week.

The meeting, sponsored by Danish Demining Group seeks to find ways of improving security in the area and ensuring peaceful co-existence among communities.

Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia is expected to give the keynote address as Kenya bears the brunt of frequent terror attacks.

The opposition by some Somalia officials against the construction of a wall along the Kenya-Somalia border is expected to feature prominently in the meeting.

Somalia has been accused of being a breeding ground for terrorists.

Mr Adan Mohamed from the Danish Refugee Council said the meeting will give specific recommendations to the national governments on the management of security along the border.
