A member of the Kwale County Assembly has threatened to resign due to what he says is continuous frustration from the family of his ex-wife.

The MCA divorced his second wife in 2015 following consistent wrangles between them in spite of having sired a son.

Speaking to reporters outside Kwale Police Station, Tsimba Golini Ward representative Swaleh Simba said he has never been at peace since they separated.

He accused the woman, together with her family, of nagging him to an extent of not giving him time to implement his obligations as an elected leader.

“I have consulted my family and they have supported my bid to resign and look for other ways of earning a living because this issue has now become political,” he said.

Mr Simba explained that he had been in and out of police stations countless times with the family demanding a Sh80,000 monthly maintenance for the son.

He added that apart from the demand, the family has also issued threats on his life claiming that last Wednesday, three unknown people raided his house at night.

“I divorced my wife because of mistakes which are known even to her family but surprisingly they have now ganged together in an effort to fight me,” he said.

UNFAITHFUL

However, Ms Mariam Mwarachuma, his estranged wife, accused Mr Simba of defending himself for the evil deeds which he used to do by not being faithful to their marriage.

She claimed that the MCA never used to spend the night at their matrimonial home and always used to return the following day without giving a clear explanation.

“Mr Simba is just raising the allegations against my family as a way of defending himself yet it is widely known that he is a womaniser and used to seduce even my own cousin,” she said.

Ms Mwarachuma dismissed claims of having decided to go public on the matter in order to finish Mr Simba’s political career saying he was only making the claims so because of his own failures.

She added that if the MCA calmed down, she was willing to withdraw the case provided that he agreed to take care of their son and pays her outstanding dowry of Sh30,000.

“If he wants us to reconcile I am willing to do so because we are humans but we cannot get back together because he openly betrayed my trust and started accusing me,” she said.
