Chief Justice Willy Mutunga wants Kenyans to rely less on the courts to resolve disputes but resort to dialogue.

“You can use elders, churches or mosques to settle disputes. I have even told the people of Kitui where I come from to turn to witchdoctors to resolve some issues,” the CJ said while opening the new Gatundu Law Courts in Kiambu County.

He said courts are expensive and called on justice seekers, especially on family matters to use other forums.

The Chief Justice noted that the legal system is also time consuming and may lead to divisions.
