Transport along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway was paralysed Monday morning after residents barricaded the road to protest insecurity in the Limuru area.

Residents used stones and twigs to block the highway in the Kwambira area at 9am on Monday after a man was found dead on a path near his home.

According to the residents, the man was the third person to be killed in two months.

They demanded an overhaul of the Limuru Sub-County security team.

They urged Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo to intervene and demanded the removal of assistant county commissioners and the OCPD and his team, claiming they had failed to tame rising insecurity.

The residents said apart from the murders, six people were recently mugged by criminals, who attack from 7pm.

Motorists were forced to seek alternative routes to avoid the protesting residents, who vowed that they would not allow vehicles to pass until their grievances were addressed.

The body of the deceased was taken to City Mortuary.
