Betway Kenya turns five

It’s a happy fifth anniversary for Betway Kenya. Since its inception, Betway has made strides in providing a premium online gaming platform and promoting sports development in Kenya.

As a proud sponsor of English Premier League side West Ham United, and Spanish La Liga side Levante, Betway has continually offered its customers exciting promotions that add to the thrill of 1000s of fixtures from the most popular leagues and tournaments around the world.

The leader in online entertainment is currently running the “Betway For the Fans” promotion in line with the start of the new EPL season. This promotion offers fans a chance to win daily airtime, cash and Free Bets prizes, a brand-new Samsung A30 smartphone each week, and a grand prize of a 43-inch flat screen TV with DSTv for a year.

Betway has always strived to provide a premium product to its customers, which is evident in the on-going promotions, like Win Boost and Money Back Boost, offered to customers. The Win Boost promotion gives customers a chance of doubling their Multi Bet winnings, while Money Back Boost gives them up to 20-times their bet back in cash if one Multi Bet selection in their betslip loses.

Sports play a key role in unifying people across the world and Betway offers its customers an array of gaming options for them to explore and to enjoy the thrill of sports and sports betting together.

CSR

In addition to offering a number of premium online gaming options, Betway is a responsible corporate citizen and has endeavoured to ensure favourable relationships within its communities. With its extensive global experience that provides opportunities for networking and exposure, Betway has impacted the careers of several sports men and women through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Over the years, Betway has also supported various community teams from underprivileged areas. Kenya is a sports talent hub that cuts across athletics, soccer, swimming, motorsports and so much more. However, with the overflow of talent, lies a gap with regards to infrastructure, equipment and sponsorship that teams can use to enhance their sporting skills.

Betway took on the challenge of filling this gap by supporting teams from underprivileged communities that lack basic sports necessities such as kits and training equipment. The brand has donated kits to teams such as Alswafa FC, Kayole Starlets, Bissil FC and Mwimuto Wailers.

Aside from the donation of kits, Betway also sponsored the Betway Medical Training Camp, in collaboration with St. John Ambulance, to educate teams from Dandora on how to handle injuries and administer first aid on the pitch. This was as a result of an incident in which Hakati Sportiff’s Vincent Ogono tragically lost his life following a head injury during a game.

The brand has also diversified its support to golf, a sport that remains an enigma to a lot of Kenyans. In 2019, Betway showed its support of amateur golf through the 2019 Tannahill Shield Tournament. The event was graced by amateur golfers from various golf clubs across the country.

Betway has also adopted innovative ways of advancing its CSR projects through the Betway Sports Development Webinar. The webinar hosts speakers who have interacted with various teams and talent across the world. With their skills and experience, they are able to furnish the participating sports teams with information that will positively impact on their output.

The first Sports Development Webinar, hosted by Betway on September 1, featured UEFA’s Chris Barnes and SuperSport United Goalkeeper Coach, Nico Labohm. The second session took place on September 15 and featured SuperSport United’s Technical Director, Grant Johnson, and Forwardzone CEO, Ashley Kotzin. The participating team, Dago Stormers, also received training equipment that would allow them to implement the skills they had gained through the webinars.

Responsible gaming

As a global brand, Betway has been at the forefront in promoting responsible gaming not just in Kenya, but in all of its markets across the world. Measures have been taken to ensure all of Betway’s customers bet in the most responsible way possible.

“In our quest to offer an entertaining gaming platform, our players’ wellbeing is of paramount importance. We appreciate the measures the government has in the recent past taken to promote responsible gaming, which complement our own internal measures,” says Karen Njerenga, Betway Kenya Public Relations Executive.

Betway has also been championing responsible gaming through its social media channels with the “BetTheResponsibleWay” tag.

“We thank our customers for walking with us in the last five years through this sports gaming adventure, and invite them to walk another five. Cheers to the entire Betway Family at five.”
