Leopards’ leaders have failed; they must quit

What you need to know:

  • Having said that, I must salute the efforts being made by some well meaning Ingwe supporters to rescue the team. I am aware that former chairman Alfred Sambu and former Vice chairman Walter Onyino are working on some interventions in the coming days.
  • I am aware that Sambu, using his vast political and business connections, is mobilising a cross section of wellwishers – politicians, entrepreneurs, professionals and intellectuals – to come to the club’s rescue sooner rather than later.
  • It is of no use to have a constitution that can be exploited to kill the very club whose wellbeing it should be safeguarding. Can’t the football leadership in this country, led by the FKF president Sam Nyamweya, intervene and send these fellows packing?

We must be having a very good team. Ask me why? For boys who trained for just one hour on Friday to dominate a motivated Tusker was beyond our wildest imagination.

Talking to our long suffering supporters just before the match, you could see apprehension in their eyes.

Many expected a disaster. The boys had not trained at all the whole week, even threatening to boycott the match altogether if their salaries and allowances were not paid.

Word has it that the so called chairman surfaced from his hideout on Friday and dished out some handouts before the boys agreed to turn up for the match. I must for once salute Jack Oguda and the mandarins at Kenya Premier League for ignoring Kasavuli’s request to have the match postponed for by granting such request, they could have been unwittingly abetting the rot at the club’s leadership. You do not abdicate your responsibilities and use KPL to cover up your sins.

To our long suffering fans, rest  assured something is being done. It is a pity that the Kasavulis and Aladwas of this world are using the Ingwe constitution to cling on to the club’s leadership even when it so crystal clear that they are not upto the challenge. That as concerned members, we are unable to use any constitutional means to kick them out.

It is time we members explored avenues of amending that constitution to ensure  that the club is not held to ransom by some incompetent fellows.

SEND THEM PACKING

It is of no use to have a constitution that can be exploited to kill the very club whose wellbeing it should be safeguarding. Can’t the football leadership in this country, led by the FKF president Sam Nyamweya, intervene and send these fellows packing?

How is it possible that we all stand aside and watch these characters wreck the club?

The fact that other clubs, including Sofapaka, are also experiencing financial constraints, can never be used as an excuse by the Kasavulis of this world to justify their leadership ineptness.
Our fans must also learn to stick by the club come rain, come sunshine. It is embarrassing to watch empty stands during our home matches. I’ve always said that supporting Ingwe is not for the faint hearted.
