  • Three regular players were dropped, from the squad: Elijah Otieno, Lucas Oluoch and Eugene Ochieng'
  • Three under-19 players: Gerald Mwendwa, Jasraj Kundi and Sachin Bhudia are in line for international caps

Collins Obuya has been named captain of Kenya that will compete in the World Cricket League Division Three set for Oman from November 9-19.

The team will be coached by ex-star Maurice Odumbe with Lameck Onyango his assistant.

Dhiren Gondaria will be the assistant coach, Tariq Iqbal team manager while Moses Muturi will be the physiotherapist.

While naming the team yesterday, Cricket Kenya Interim Committee secretary David Obuya said: “Depending on the availability of funds we will send a coach, assistant coach and team manager. However, if we fail to get extra money to accommodate two coaches, we shall drop out one of them.”

Three regular players were dropped, from the squad - Elijah Otieno, Lucas Oluoch and Eugene Ochieng.

This is Obuya’s second time to lead the side. He was named skipper of Kenya after the 2011 World Cup in India. The majority of senior players were dropped from that side.

Three under-19 players - Gerald Mwendwa, Jasraj Kundi and Sachin Bhudia are in line for international caps. The trio were part of the team that represented the country in the age group event in New Zealand in February.

In Oman, it will be do-or-die for Kenya team which must fight tooth and nail to regain their lost glory.

Kenya made history in the 2003 World Cup when they became the only non-Test playing country to reach the semi-finals. Fallen Kenya has indeed appeared in five successive World Cups.
