Reinstated Embu Governor Martin Wambora has brushed aside threats by Members of County Assembly that they would impeach him for the second time.

Speaking in Naivasha during a meeting sponsored by Danish International Development Agency, DANIDA, the Governor said he had “hit the ground running.”

“As you can see, I have already started working for the benefit of the people of Embu County who ushered me into office,” he said.

Mr Wambora downplayed talk that he will have a difficult time working with Embu MCAs.

He said he was happy with the court ruling, saying justice had been done and vowed to work hard to cover for the lost time.

“There is no time to waste and we should all abide by the court decision. Let us join hands for a better Embu,” he said.

Meanwhile, the county governments will receive Sh6.3 billion grant from DANIDA to improve health care facilities.

Speaking after daylong deliberations, Council of Governors chairman, Isaac Ruto said they had already agreed on how the money will be disbursed.

He said the money, to be channelled through treasury, would greatly help improve health facilities in the respective counties.

Mr Ruto allayed fears that doctors were leaving counties terming it as a “mere re-adjustment programme.”

“In my Bomet backyard, six doctors have left but I have received 11 more from other areas,” he said.

Danish International Development Agency official, Rhodah Njuguna said the money would be released in tranches upto 2015/2016 financial years.

She said in a ten year period, they would have given more than Sh10 billion, with the money going to health centers and dispensaries across the counties.
