Vote counting underway in Kiagu, Mahoo by-elections

Votes counting has commenced in the Kiagu and Mahoo Wards by-election after the conclusion of the voting exercise at 5pm.

Voting began at 6am in various polling centres in the two wards in Meru and Taita Taveta Counties respectively.

The voting exercise had been marked with enhanced security in both wards.

Voters were also required to observe Covid-19 containment measures including social distancing and having their temperatures checked.

The Mahoo ward in Taveta Sub county is being contested for by three candidates. The seat fell vacant following the death of area MCA Ronald Sagurani in August this year.
