Do not fool Kenyans, Mudavadi tells Ruto

What you need to know:

  • Mr Mudavadi faulted the DP for attempting to posture himself as a saint despite still serving in government.
  • He said there is need for Kenyans to focus on policy-based issues rather than fall for leaders propagating deceit to win their hearts.

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi yesterday lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of trying to “run away from the misdeeds of the Jubilee administration”.

Mr Mudavadi faulted the DP for attempting to posture himself as a saint despite still serving in government.

He said there is need for Kenyans to focus on policy-based issues rather than fall for leaders propagating deceit to win their hearts.

“If you have been part of a government for eight years then wake up and want to disown policies of that government what really are you doing? How do you say you are now the solution to those problems?” posed Mr Mudavadi.

He pointed out that Dr Ruto cannot purport to be the solution to Kenyans’ problems since he is part of the Jubilee administration.

“He has had the opportunity to serve in the same government for the last eight years. So if we are in a dark corner, the whole idea that he can turn it around is neither here nor there,” Mr Mudavadi said.

Order

If the debt portfolio is high, Mr Mudavadi noted, “Whether it is Kimwarer and Arror dams, whether it is SGR, these are commitments they entered into collectively and are into it collectively as a government of the day.”

The ANC leader threw his weight behind stringent measures announced by the National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC) on Wednesday, saying there is need to restore order in the country.

“We should take the pronouncement seriously because it came in the wake of two deaths of innocent young men.”

“Why did these two young men have to die? Were they freedom fighters, were they fighting for stolen elections, were they fighting for salary reviews through their trade unions? None of these. These are young lives lost because of high-level of irresponsibility amongst the political class,” Mr Mudavadi added at the Mudavadi secretariat in River Side.

He said there is need for all Kenyans including leaders to operate within the confines of the law.
