A Nairobi court has acquitted Moyale MP Roba Duba of a charge of incitement to violence.

Nairobi acting Chief Magistrate Daniel Ochenja also acquitted county representative Golicha Galgalo, who was charged alongside the MP.

In his ruling, the magistrate said the prosecution did not prove the incitement charge against the accused.

“It would be an effort in futility to put him on his defence,” said the magistrate.

Mr Duba and Mr Galgalo were charged with inciting the youth to violence on November 29, 2013, along the Moyale-Marsabit road at Walda location in Marsabit County.

They were alleged to have uttered words that were intended to cause violence between the Borana, Gabra and Burji communities by inciting the Borana youth to loot assorted goods from a lorry with the registration number KBP 134A and thereafter to burn the said lorry.
