Attempt to grab Uhuru Gardens failed

Kenyans would not be celebrating Jamhuri Day at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi were the audacious plans by a top official to grab part of the land a few years ago succeeded. Our mole says that at the height of his power after the Jubilee government took over in 2013, the big man put in motion a scheme to hive off part of the public land but this was stopped by the authorities at an advanced stage after someone leaked the plan.

How state board favoured CEO

A board of one of the state agencies is in the crosshairs of investigative agencies after it extended the term of its CEO without following the laid down procedures. The law requires that any CEO desirous of an extension should write to the board for consideration six months before the expiry of his term. However, the agencies are investigating claims that the CEO was granted an extension, even though he didn’t request, and without appraisal of his performance. The CEO is said to have summoned and misled the chairman into calling for a meeting in which he ambushed the board with his request, threatening to harm himself if the board did not renew his contract.

Aspirant gives up on city ambitions

A gubernatorial aspirant in Nairobi who started campaigning more than two years ago, has gone mute. The politician is not happy with the ongoing realignments in the party, especially after learning that the party leader was luring another aspirant, a sitting MP, for the seat to defect from another party so as to be given the ticket. The aspirant, who at some point would organise her public events but brand them as those of the party has since stopped the activities, even in some occasions not honouring invites by the leadership to plan for the next elections. The politician is now contemplating defecting so as to get a fair chance to compete.

MP gives up on ambitions in county

Still on the race for county chiefs, a female MP who is eyeing the governor’s position in one of the Nyanza counties is back to the drawing board after realising the party honchos favour her rival. The rival is an official of the party on whose ticket both are eyeing. The MP is said to be considering defending her seat rather than risk going for the gubernatorial seat and losing. Sources intimate that the MP has been holding out in expectation that something will change but a recent tour of the county by the party leader was enough for her to rethink her position. One of her rivals, a male, is also considering going independent.

Why artiste hid wedding from public

A high-profile artiste in the country, who recently tied the knot in a secret wedding, is now the talk of town after claims that the decision to hide the event from the public was to avoid any possible embarrassment from his previous relationships. His close friends and associates were of the view that making the event public could open past wounds and create fodder for blogs and gossip columns to the detriment of his marriage and even career. They would later have pictures posted on social media.
