  • No new Covid-19 related death was recorded Tuesday.

Kenya's number of declared coronavirus cases rose by 151 to reach 35,356 on Tuesday, after the analysis of 2,552 samples in the last 24 hours.

Kitui County recorded the highest Covid-19 cases countrywide in the last 24 hours overtaking Nairobi, Health CAS Rashid Aman said. A total of 54 new cases were reported in Kitui on Tuesday up from 11 on Monday.

Dr Aman also announced 173 more recoveries, raising the total counts to 21,483. Of those declared cured, 107 were treated at home and 66 in various hospitals.

This is the first time since March when Kenya reported its first case that recoveries are higher than infections.

“The numbers show that transmission of the virus has been curtailed to some extent and is not spreading as fast as before,” said Dr Aman.

Of the new patients, two were foreigners and the rest Kenyans, 74 male and 77 female, and the youngest is three and the oldest 74 years.

The 2,552 samples raised the total number tested in Kenya to 479,697.

No new Covid-19-related death was reported in Kenya Tuesday, Dr Aman said.
