Covid-19 update: Confirmed cases rise with new infections

  • Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported the recoveries of 424 patients.
  • Death toll from the virus has risen to 1,614 after 10 patients succumbed in the last 24 hours.

Confirmed Covid-19 infections in Kenya have increased by 394 from 5,752 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has said.

According to the ministry, the total cases of infection in the country now stands at 92,853.

From the new cases 367 are Kenyan, while 27 are foreigners. From this number 271 are male while 123 are female. 

The youngest is a two-year-old baby while the oldest is 93.  

The ministry on Wednesday also reported the recoveries of 424 patients, bringing the cumulative recoveries in the country to 74,403.

The latest recoveries comprise 303 patients who were on home-based care programme and 121 patients who have been discharged from various hospitals.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the virus has risen to 1,614 after 10 patients succumbed in the last 24 hours.

Nairobi County, with 167 new infections, had the highest number of new cases, followed by Mombasa 59, Taita Taveta 32, Kwale 21, Kilifi 20, Nyeri 13, Kiambu 12, Nandi 7, Kakamega 7, Siaya 6, Kajiado 6 and Bungoma 6.

New infections were also reported in Nakuru 5, Meru 5, Nyamira 5, Migori 5, Kisii 4, Kisumu 3, Turkana 2, Murang’a 2 and Machakos 2.

Narok, Mandera, Vihiga, Homa Bay and Lamu each reported a single new infection.
