Court lifts arrest warrant for Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu

Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu on Thursday morning rushed to court to have a warrant of arrest issued against him lifted.

The legislator told a Kibera court he was unable to attend court on June 16 and June 22 as he was unwell.

Mr Mutambu presented a medical report to Kibera Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi to prove that he was sick on the days he was supposed to attend court.

The magistrate lifted the warrant but warned the MP that he should take court matters seriously.

The MP had skipped the hearing of a case in which he is accused of assaulting preacher Thomas Wahome of Helicopter Ministries.

Mr Mutambu is alleged to have assaulted Mr Wahome at the lawmaker's office, located on Muchai Drive in Kilimani.

The MP is out on a Sh20,000 cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on July 5.
