The event was attended by several people in the entertainment world: Mish of Homeboyz Radio, Buddha Blaze (hiphopreneur) and Sage, and as well as several musicians who have been nominated to perform in Coke Studio Africa.

From Kenya, representatives include Dela, Octopizzo and Harry Kimani.

The event was hosted by radio presenter, actor and MC Maqbul, who took time to have a moment of silence for the Westgate attack. The premiere is dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives to save those who were trapped in the mall.

Coke Studio Africa will be premiering on NTV this Saturday at 8 pm, and QTV at 9 pm.

Each episode is an hour long, and they have plans for a two-hour long special on New Year's Eve.

The idea behind the show is to encourage a fusion between old and new African music through mashups with various famous artists, such as Salif Keita with Lady Jaydee and Dela performing an artsy remix of the song 'Che', originally sang by Tshala Muana.

The show will run for 8 episodes with 24 artists performing 50 different songs, and promises to be a revolutionary step for African music, African music lovers and collaboration across the continent.
