Hair loss is a common condition affecting very many people. Caused by illness, improper hairdressing techniques, aging and so forth, it has physiological and psychological effects.

Some individuals lose confidence and even self-esteem due to this problem. Most solutions such as creams and oral medications manage the condition. The most effective, however, is the hair transplant, now available locally.

A hair transplant is a surgical technique that transfers hair follicles from one part of the body to the scalp in order to revive dead follicles thus restoring the hair. It originated in Japan in the 1940s and was revolutionalised in Australia in 2001. The follicular unit extraction technique was developed at that time. This modern technique ensures natural and aesthetically-pleasing results. The result is full hair in areas that had thinning and balding spots.

The journey to a hair transplant begins with a consultation with a trichologist to determine the cause of hair loss, which could be due to tight weaving and braiding, or male pattern baldness. The most common problem women experience is a receding hairline. Once a diagnosis has been made, the modality of the treatment is agreed upon.
