Detectives in Eldoret are investigating an attack on self-proclaimed private detective Jane Mugo while on her way to Nairobi from Bungoma on Thursday evening.

Ms Mugo’s car was blocked by another car, before the occupants attacked her before driving off in her black Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle registration number KCN 222K.

Interestingly, Ms Mugo, popularly known as the spy queen, was left by the roadside as the attackers sped off in Ms Mugo’s car with two occupants.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Ali Gitonga said a team of investigators are gathering information on the Thursday evening attack and kidnapping incident.

Mr Gitonga told Nation.Africa that the incident occurred along Eldoret-Nakuru highway at Ainabkoi- Kapsabet junction near Cengalo forest.

“It is too early to ascertain the motive behind the incident,” said Mr Gitonga.

According to a report at Kondoo Police Station, the abductors obstructed Ms Mugo’s vehicle at around 6pm on the busy highway using a Subaru car.

The assailants who hit Mr Mugo sustained injuries in her hands and face after being hit by a sharp object. The attackers kidnapped her driver, Kevin Okoth and another man identified as Newton Manyana.

The private detective lost some of her personal effects including two mobile phones during the incident. The police are yet to find the car used during the attack.

“We have embarked on investigations, soon we will be able to unravel the events leading to the incident,” said Mr Gitonga.

Good Samaritans took Ms Mugo to Burnt Forest County Hospital where she was stabilised before being transferred to a private hospital in Eldoret for further treatment. Police are yet to make any arrests in connection to the assault and kidnapping incident.

This incident comes barely a few days after the spy queen hinted at vying for the Kirinyaga Woman Representative seat in the 2022 General Election. In a recent interview, Ms Mugo said her decision to join politics was informed by her desire to serve the Kirinyaga people.
